MVC Development Finance is a privately funded, independently managed lender focused on residential property development. We combine decades of experience in housebuilding, investment, and finance to support developers with the insight, capital and continuity needed to deliver.

Originally part of a family-owned group with roots going back to 1953, MVC’s approach has always been pragmatic, selective, and highly engaged. Today, under new leadership, that legacy continues — with a clear focus on quality projects, strong partnerships, and measured growth.

Our Story

From Building Homes to Financing Them.

MVC was born from the Moody Group — a multi-generational property business that began as a regional housebuilder in the 1950s. At its peak, Moody Homes was delivering over 600 homes a year.

Over time, the business evolved: first into investment, and later into development finance. Since 2001, MVC has operated as a specialist lender. In 2024, MVC Development Finance Ltd was established to carry this mission forward.

1953
The Moody Group, a family-run business, is officially incorporated and begins trading in the England & Wales.
1960s
Significant economic growth in the UK. The Moody Group thrives during this period.
1973
Global oil crisis impacts the UK economy, economic activity declines.
1979
Moody Homes Ltd is sold to Wimpey Homes. At its peak, the company was building over 600 houses per year.
1980s
The UK experiences economic recession, but the Moody Group remains active and adaptable.
1994
A second sale of Moody Homes Ltd takes place - this time to Admiral Homes.
2001
MVC is established to fund small residential developers. This marks a transition from direct house building to development lending and broader property investments.
2008
The global financial crisis impacts activity, but the group remains resilient.
2016
The UK’s vote to leave the EU introduces new economic challenges.
2020s
MVC Development Finance continues to find innovative ways to support residential development.
